So I've actually been having a pretty good time while baching it (biatching it?) this past week. I've got lots of stuff done and had fun hanging out with various people and no people at all. Had delicious food on Friday at Simon's Wok and then learned several new games afterwards at [livejournal.com profile] epi_lj and [livejournal.com profile] okoshun's place. Saturday was [livejournal.com profile] zero_gravity's party for her newly-imported husband, and I ate curry and met a lot of people I don't know (but I do now, I guess). I remember thinking that her friends are pretty cool, and then wondered that if I'm her friend, does that mean I'm cool too? Naah, that can't be it.

Anyway, the fun continued yesterday with the saxophone-Guiness-record thing at Dundas Square followed by strolling around taking pictures and attending various Doors Open events, including OCAD's new addition that I have been dying to see the inside of. For those who don't live in the city, it looks like... um... this.

Today I'll do work and maybe do some laundry, and tonight I'll sup with my parents. Exciting times.

I forgot to mention that I've put up a gallery of pictures I've taken with my new camera, and as usual the link can be found at Heatherville.

I realized today that I've got everything I need to be a photographer, except balls... figuratively, of course. I was strolling around with my new medium-format camera at my side on this beautiful day, looking for something to take a picture of. I turned up Church just in time to see a tiny, elfin person playing an enormous, dented trombone outside St. James cathedral. The bell twinkled in the late afternoon light, and the slanting sun threw long, taffy-pull trombone shapes on the scalloped stonework of the arched doorway in which the player was perfectly framed as s/he waited for band practice.

"Oh fuck, I should take a picture of that," I said to myself, but kept right on walking. Photo ops like that don't come along very often. What is so hard about saying "Hey, can I take your picture?" I've got to get over this, or stay stuck on frame 1 forever.
