Trololo cat

Last night while scratching Kirby's back, I remembered Trololo Cat. I asked Nat if she rememembered him, because it was one of her favourite videos when she was three. We even had a little routine where I'd scratch her back and she'd start singing. She said, "I don't remember Trololo CAT, just Trololo MAN. But what's strange is, that song reminds me of a cat, but I don't know why." So I showed her the video... she had zero memory of it, but was (of course) absolutely delighted with it and we watched it about five times. Still one of my favourite YouTube videos of all time... the look of outrage on the cat's face when the hand stops scratching; the way the song matches up with its mouth so perfectly.

For what it's worth, I appear for two seconds (2:43-2:45) in CAKE's latest video, The Winter, which was released yesterday. By some fluke, you can also observe me with my mouth hanging open in the YouTube preview (that's me in the corner). I filmed it last May on the Leslie St. spit, and honestly had forgotten all about it. It must have been a nightmare to edit, as evidenced by the fact that it took almost a year to finish.

Brief USA Today article here.

Also, I sincerely apologize for failing to post for nigh on two months. I'll shape up, I promise. Now that MIL has invaded Facebook, LJ and Twitter are pretty much my only remaining refuges.

I see I haven't posted a Nat vid since December. She's changed quite a bit since then! These videos are nothing too exciting, just a slice of life I guess.
She will be 23 months on the 9th.

It's over

The affair with Sackboy has come to a rather grim conclusion this morning: Nat ripped his arms and legs off, declared he was "brokened" and disposed of his remains in the green bin. I heard her whispering, "garbage, garbage" and discovered the grisly crime scene.

I question the prime suspect here.

Here are some show-offy videos.
She will be 13 months on Wednesday.

I was down in the basement with Nattie doing laundry this morning, and came back out of the laundry room to find her holding a bottle of white glue and sucking away on the cap. I guess she assumed it was some new type of sippy cup. Of course it was closed and white glue is non-toxic anyway, but... yeah. Bad parenting there.

Her first (and my 36th) birthday is now 3 weeks away, and I find it kind of hard to believe. She took her first real steps on Friday afternoon and walked spontaneously earlier today. So far she finds it much less efficient than crawling, but the tables will soon turn as she gains confidence. Then we'll all be in trouble.

Here's the video for those who didn't see it on Facebook )

Nattie is pretty mobile these days, and here is a video of her doing a combination of crawling and yoga poses. She can actually get down to business and crawl on both knees if she really feels like it, but usually she doesn't feel like it. Anyway, here she is going after her favourite things, plastic eyeballs.
7 months, 1 week.

I used to love this British Airways commercial back in the day (early 90s?)
But one thing I never noticed before is... hey, where did the ear go?

I proudly present my second movie, shot entirely in HeatherVision. It stars the currently nameless baby rat and her tolerant big sister, Petra. Petra was hoping I had a snack, wheras the baby has yet to learn about snacks, and just wanted to get in the way. Note her adorable lightning-bolt marking.

Once again, if you don't have Windows Media Player, I assume you're out of luck.

Inspired by [ profile] androgynousmind's recent foray into cinema, I have decided to give it a try. This is my very first movie, cobbled together with the anemic (but free) Windows movie maker.

I give you:
Household Creatures: Lives in Transition (2.7 Mb)

Note: If you can't handle Windows Media files, you may be out of luck.

Not to be outdone by [ profile] naxos and his video camera phone, I hereby announce my descent into video madness. I just remembered that our video camera can make mpegs.

I give you:
