I've been friended by a number of spambots recently, and I see I'm not the only one—-I spotted a number of familiar names on the bot's info page.

Anyway, here is a form where you can report a suspected bot:

We're still not quite used to living in a house and all that comes with it (utility bills, garbage day, raccoons, you name it). We are amazed by the amount of junk mail that we get, and the number of people who come to the door. Jehovah's Witnesses. Mormons. Real estate agents. Natural gas discount people. Politicians. And just now, a person who claimed he was a financial advisor (in Australian oilskin coat and strange Crocodile Dundee-style hat with teeth all around the band) wanting to know who we're currently with and if he could take a look at our finances. He asked me point blank how much is in our RSP! Dude! I told him, as politely as I could, to take a flipping hike. He tried to give me his business card, and I refused. He said, "It's just a card." And you're just an ass.

If only they made spam filters for doors.

Oh, spam

I think I have inadvertently trained my spam filter to eliminate all but the most hilarious.

Today's gem?

Once in a while, spammers seem to find a new way to slip through Gmail's filter. It takes a day or two for the filter to learn how to disregard it, and I guess that's what is going on today. I hardly ever look in the spam folder, but I did just now and realized what a shocking amount comes to my gmail account. So far today, I have received 62 64. I had no idea it had gotten so high.

Any other Gmail users getting spammed more than usual today?

I could probably post some pictures from the weekend, but I can't remember where my camera is right now and besides, I'm pretty sure the pics are crap. It was rainy and cold the whole weekend and we barely even saw Niagara-on-the-Lake because it was too cold and damp and windy to walk around comfortably, plus it was dark. We did go to the Butterfly Conservatory on Sunday morning, which was cool. It's basically an indoor garden with zillions of butterflies flitting from flower to flower, sipping nectar and all that butterfly crap. There were reportedly even a few moths, but I didn't see any. We were near enough to the falls to see the mist rising, but didn't actually stop to see them, because of the whole cold and rain thing.

Recent amusing spam names of note:

Jesus Keen
Rusty Pence

Jesus Keen would be a great name for my next novel, were I to write a novel (and if I actually had a previous novel, which I most certainly do not). That reminds me, it's almost November. Good luck, all you NaNo-ites. I guess I won't be seeing any of you until December.

Just got in from the gym. Checked email. Spam file tally: one "MyDoom" virus message, seven "watch out for MyDoom virus" warnings from Rogers.

Thanks guys, keep up the good work.
