Trololo cat

Last night while scratching Kirby's back, I remembered Trololo Cat. I asked Nat if she rememembered him, because it was one of her favourite videos when she was three. We even had a little routine where I'd scratch her back and she'd start singing. She said, "I don't remember Trololo CAT, just Trololo MAN. But what's strange is, that song reminds me of a cat, but I don't know why." So I showed her the video... she had zero memory of it, but was (of course) absolutely delighted with it and we watched it about five times. Still one of my favourite YouTube videos of all time... the look of outrage on the cat's face when the hand stops scratching; the way the song matches up with its mouth so perfectly.

I saw this entry while browsing my meme tag, and tried it. It was still kinda fun.

"Heather is..."

...an important food source for various sheep and deer

...superficially common but expresses itself in a determined and strong way
...a very popular first name for women
...awesome, in case you didn't know!
...a cunning young woman who loves nothing more than to trick men into giving her gold and other possessions
...the name of the Little Red-Haired Girl [I did not know this!]
...taking back her Christmas spirit
...perhaps most often associated with the rocky highlands of Scotland
...serious about civil litigation, but tries not to take herself too seriously
...purple in colour with a hint of pink or blue
...kept young and vigorous by controlled burning
...truly dead, what a sad way to go.

1. What time did you get up this morning?
Woke at 6:30 with the alarm, but didn't actually get out until around 7, when it was time to feed Zeke his special food and keep Kirby away from it.

intriguing, isn't it? )

Rather than posting about the boring state of my life, I may as well do the year-end travel meme that's going around. You're supposed to list the places you've stayed overnight this year that are not your house.

Kind of sad, but doing better in the travel department than the last couple of years. 2010 might be more exciting-- we'll see.

First line or two from the first entry of each month of 2008.
Oh, what a boring year it apparently was.... )

That what were you doing on this date thing. Or very near this date.

July 10 2007: Posting an old British Airways commercial. Very popular topic with one comment.

July 12 2006: My review of the last movie I saw in a theatre to date, Wordplay.

July 11 2005: A discussion of PandaCam and talk of preparation for an ultrasound (for my bum ovary).

July 11 2004: Evidently I was out of town for practically the whole month (New Brunswick)

July 9 2003: I talk about my turtle, Eor, and argue with [livejournal.com profile] epi_lj and others about whether or not I am a fatass.

July 9 2002: Talk of the garbage strike and attending a new Honda owners' clinic. We don't even have that 'new' car anymore...

OMG, I never do these. But I'm afraid I'm terribly guilty of this. I care deeply about many inanimate objects and feel sorry for them when they are abused, mistreated, or when it's time to throw them away. For example, when I was a kid I got a skinned knee and poured tons of bactine on the wound and applied a bandaid. Of course, the bandaid didn't stick because of all the bactine. I felt so guilty about the bandaid's wasted 'life' that I kept the little peel-off backing papers as a memento. For years. In fact, if I did a bit of searching at my parents' house I could probably locate them. Yeah, I was a weird kid.

This sounds fun and I've always had an interest in graphology so would be interested to see other people's writing as well. Answer the following:

1. Your name/username.
2. Left-handed or right-handed?
3. Favorite letters to write?
4. Least favorite letters to write?
5. Write "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog".
6. Tag people

here's mine )

Basically, you're supposed to highlight the ones you've been to, and italicize the ones you'd like to go to. Let's just say that if it's not some type of Disney-related theme park, I wouldn't mind checking it out. Oh, and you're supposed to add one on to the end if it's not already on here. I think I'll add the Sistine Chapel. I have not yet been to Italy, and the odds don't look good for the foreseeable future.

BTW I doubt this ranking or its statistics are even real.
[edit: the first 50 seem to have come from Forbes]

So here's that movie meme that's going around. Apparently, I haven't seen a lot of movies, but note that you don't have to admit how many times you've seen them. A lot more of my life was wasted than is readily apparent.

But why 239? Couldn't they have come up with just one more?

on with the list )
kadenza: (trumpets)
I wouldn't have bothered posting this, were it not so eerily accurate.

Fun! Borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] chickenfeet2003:

Go to Wikipedia and look up your birth day (excluding the year). List three neat facts, two births and one death in your journal, including the year.

June 9

EVENTS
• 68 - Roman Emperor Nero commits suicide, imploring his secretary Epaphroditus to slit his throat to evade a Senate-imposed death by flogging.
• 1856 - 500 Mormons leave Iowa City, Iowa and head west for Salt Lake City, Utah carrying all their possessions in two-wheeled handcarts.
• 1934 - Donald Duck debuts in The Wise Little Hen.

BIRTHS
• 1961 - Michael J. Fox, Canadian-born actor
• 1963 - Johnny Depp, American actor

DEATH
• 1870 - Charles Dickens, English author (b. 1812) (hmm... what about Darles Chickens?)

Would I do the same? Sure, sounds like fun!

The rules are that you can only say yes or no, or you will be severely punished. Bring it on, I say.
